Candyfest 2008

  1. Last night was our church's annual Candyfest. It's a huge even with tons of booths, inflatables, hayrides, prizes, candy and lots of fun! This year we made Jacob a LEO. He was such a little trouper and wore it for about 1- 1/2 hours before he wanted it off. Once we took it off so he could sit in the firetruck, it wasn't going back on :) He was a big hit. I even had a grown up friend who said he's going as a LEGO to his costume party. Fun times... Jacob did about 6 of the little games. He stood in line and waited his turn to play and then he got candy. After the first time getting candy - he was all about standing in ALL the lines to get ALL the candy.

Choo Choo Pumpkin

Tonight we carved our pumpkin. Jacob helped scoop out the pumpkin guts. He wanted to help sooo much..
Since carving was not an option, we let him color on his little pumpkin ta da...

Fun Week!

What a fun week! We started off having some fun in the back yard. Finally! a cute picture of Jacob standing still and facing the camera! Last Wednesday night, Grampa (or PawPaw - I think we may change it) came for a visit and read Jacob his latest favorite book "Dog's Colorful Day"
The next day we had playgroup at the pumpkin patch. This is the best I could get Jacob in a photo with the entire group. He was not about to sit on hay when there were pumpkins he could pick up and move around!

YAY - he posed!!!

and then again with Grampa!!

Friday night it rained like crazy so we stayed home from the football game and painted pumpkins.

Saturday we went to see Hank's band in the Chicken Pie Festival Parade! Yep - chicken pies - yum :) - and here's the chicken in the parade!
Jacob could care less about the band once he started collecting candy!

So there you have it...a week of fun. The only thing not in the pictures was the LCHS Homecoming parade we took Grampa to and it poured rain the entire time - lots of candy -but no pictures - oh well.

Jacobisms

Yesterday Jacob went to preschool for the morning. I send him with a lunch. Yesterday's lunch was hot dog pieces, cheese, goldfish crackers and grapes. When I picked him up, his teacher said "oh, he ate good today - although a little girl stole his cheese" So, once home, I went through his lunch sack and sure enough - the only thing left was hot dog. Later on, he's sitting on the potty and telling his daddy about his day. He says "daddy I ate all my lunch!" I explained that "no, Jacob you ate grapes and goldfish and some kid took your cheese, so that means you only ate grapes and fish for lunch!" Jacob, still sitting on the potty, says "cool." He finally knows how to use that word now :) This child LOVES grapes...he spots them a mile away in the store.

In other news.....Jacob is changing so much lately. His vocabulary has taken off and he NEVER shuts up! Constant chatter which warms my heart mostly - but on occasion - I wish he had a mute button :)..He LOVES Thomas the Tank Engine. I DVR it every Saturday and each day we watch it before he goes for a nap. When "choo choo" goes for a nap at the end of the show, then Jacob goes for his.....As you know, Jacob LOVES the alphabet and has for many months now. We are now working on counting past 10... it's coming along....Also working on shapes....I think he has definitely mastered colors though - hopefully he'll have his grammy's artistic flair and put it all to use one day....

You may have noticed in the most recent video that Jacob is wearing "big boy pants". Well - he wears them, pees in them and still has no clue what it's all about. But I know he'll catch on one day - so when we're at home, we put him in the trainers and try to time trips to the potty. The first time he peed in them he says "mommy, I spilled?" he's so confused!!! funny stuff :)

Jacob is pretty busy these days. We have gotten into a pretty neat weekly routine. Mondays - we just hang out -the two of us, Tuesday mornings I go to a ladies' Bible study at church and Jacob plays with all the other kids on the church playground, Wednesday mornings he goes to preschool and Wednesday nights we go to church and he goes to his class where he makes cool crafts and has tons of fun playing with his buds Chuckie and Alex, Thursday mornings we go to playgroup - lately outside parks, outside BK, pumpkin patch.. Fridays we hang out till afternoon and then go to daddy's football game where Jacob LOVES to dance and clap with the band. Bad mom didn't have the video camera this past game. He was standing on the chairs jumping full on and dancing with both bands at halftime - too funny

Guess that's about it. Oh! Jacob also rides (or tries to ride) a little trike at church - so I think it's time to get him one for Christmas. I was trying to teach him how to pedal... that was a sight....when I let him go, he just scooted along - but he was steering pretty well :)

Jacob says "Go Gators!"

Outside Fun

Jacob has been having some fun times lately. Last week at playgroup, we went to Turtle Grove Park. They have this giant turtle that is too cool.
and they have this super cool fast slide that shoots you down real quick...

and then Jacob tried to climb on the alligator... isn't the mosiac wall the best!
later....we did some football practice in Jacob's room...dad he may like football AND band... hope that's ok....

then we tried our hand at the frisbee...

So, as you can see - a fun week..I added more pictures on Jacob's photo album

A new video - finally!

Sorry for the wait - we had to unpack the video camera! Jacob really likes to play in his new room. If you even *mention* the word, "play," he will grab you by the hand and drag you to his room! Then he pulls you down to the floor and says, "Play!" Once you get there, something like this is likely to happen:

We mentioned to him the other day that we were going to go see Grammy in a few weeks. Now, every day when we put him to bed, and again when he wakes up, he says, "Go see Gra?" just like he did in the last part of the video.

I'm still here!!!

Hi everyone! Sorry mommy and daddy took so long to give you all an update. It's been a busy summer and here I am in my new back yard! I like to help pick up the pine cones and make a pile :) I really like our new house and my new room. I take everyone who visits by the hand - drag them to my room and say "play!". I have all sorts of new skills lately. Each night mommy and daddy sing "Jesus Loves Me". Now I sing along with them and know almost all the words. Daddy says I can "match pitch" - whatever that means :) I can also make sentences too! If you have been around me for more than 5 minutes, you know that I LOVE doors!!! If they are open - I like to close them - if they are closed - I like to open them. The other day I told mommy and daddy "I like to close the doors!" They laughed at me so hard... I didn't understand... I am just telling them what I like to do :/

Daddy says he has a ton of things he wants to video tape me doing. So stay tuned hopefully soon. I can count to 10 and I know all my alphabet. I even sing the alphabet song. I count things all day long everywhere we go. It's fun! I also like to tell mommy what I like to eat. I tell her I like chips! I want chips with every meal. Mommy doesn't give in though. Oh well - I will keep asking for chips :)

I have a neighbor friend who is coming over today for the first time. Her name is Teegan and she's only 1 year old. I guess she'll want to play with my toys. She's a red-head too!

Last week I went to see Daddy at band camp a few times. All the kids were trying to make me play their instruments.... I dont' understand. I like footballs! :) Daddy thinks I'll be in the band -- we'll see :) I do like those drum sticks though. I tried them out on just about everything and everyone in the band room!

That's about it...Mommy apologizes for being such a slacker on the updates. Today is the first day in 3 weeks we've had a printer, desk, etc. so blogging is back to normal YAY!

Check back soon for videos (hopefully)

the king

Here's my little guy wearing his "crown" and his big boy pull-ups and he's filling up his boat with gas. I think he'd be a big help to Uncle Pete and Aunt Jen when we get to the lake :) Check my picasa album for more pics.

our little helper

After a day of meals with Jacob - his area is a total mess. We usually get the dustbuster out and he's usually terrified of it. Finally he's not scared anymore and wants to help. Next - we teach him to wash our cars!

Party #1

Jacob will be 2 years old tomorrow!!!! So, we are having a few parties for him. Today I brought treats to Jacob's day-school. I made rice krispie pops with mini chocolate chips. Yumm. Jacob was the only kid that ate the whole thing. Once I showed him what to do with it, he was off to the races:) The other kids nibbled, but mostly played with the sticks. It was pretty funny to watch them all. Tomorrow daddy works late so not much of a party before it's bedtime - but we plan to celebrate as a family on Friday night and then next weekend, we'll have some friends over for cake and more presents!! This year's cake will be a CAR. Wish us luck on making that one. Since Jacob likes to say (and eat) cookies - I think I will make him a cookie cake for our family party. He calls them "coo coos".

little ladies man

We have this "word" book for Jacob. Every day we go through it and learn some new words. So yesterday Jacob was looking at the book and the first few pages are of boys and girls doing things and pointing to different body parts. Jacob looks at each one and points to it and says "girl"... girl girl girl.......I tried to explain that some were boys....it was like I spoke Greek because they were ALL girls in his mind. :) Oh - and out of the blue I guess we are starting to learn the alphabet. Hank and I always have T-shirts with words on them. Sometime ago, Jacob learned what "o" looks like. Last night Hank taught him "s". He giggled himself silly saying "esssss" "esssss". I guess it's cuz snake and slinky start with s and he loves saying those...He's just saying words like cray now. Every day a few more. Yay Jacob!....that's "J" "A" "C" "O" "B"

Back home

I'm back home. Didn't do too much this week. I colored alot. I'm on my 2nd "BIG" coloring book and my 2nd box of crayons. I used the others all up at my Papaw and Grandma's. I'm saying lots of new words lately. Daddy taught me to say "goooooo Gators!". Now daddy makes me say it all the time. I also say and recognize: clock, yellow (yeyow) chair, shoes, elbow, cup, knee... the list goes on.

We go for his 2 year check up on the 9th. Oh - and he's signed up for day camp for June and July - it's a Tuesday/Wednesday morning program. He's gonna have such fun :)

2 weeks until the big day. 2 years old!! I just can't belive it. We're thinking of making a "car" cake as he loves cars. Found some cool designs on the web, so we're gonna take a stab at it. I am bringing cup cakes to his day school the day before his birthday too so he can have a little party with kids his age.

Until next time....

I'll be back home tomorrow!

Jacob has been at his Papaw & Grandma's for a week. Here's some of the highlights I've learned about...

1. Now that he can say "Gators" when he sees the FL Gator logo....his bedroom at their house is all FL Gator's so he goes and gets the pillow off the bed and brings it into the living room where one of their LSU friend's is visiting. Jacob shows him the pillow and says "Gators!". Hank is so proud.

2. Mom and dad have this little electric truck (remembee the Christmas pics?)...He can now ride it by himself and has been doing it every day - having a blast.

3. He picked up rocks from the drive and tossed them in the crawfish ponds to watch the rocks splash every day.

4. They took him to a friend's house for Sunday lunch and the friend gave him a tiny tractor to play with. Mom said he tried to "ride" it... he's also been riding Papaw's tractor some too.

5. Mom said he finds a picture of Hank and me and points and says "mama and dada".. so guess he misses us :)

I know all this wou.d be better with pictures - I hope to get them from mom and dad's camera and post them. Can't wait to pick him up tomorrow. I missed him terribly!!!!

Pictures from our trip to see Aunt Phyllis

Here are the pictures from our recent trip to Pennsylvania to visit Daddy's Great Aunt Phyllis Carter. I had a great time. We spent a lot of time in the car going and coming, but in-between we did a lot of cool things. We went to a Cabela's store near Allentown and also visited Aunt Susie and Uncle Joe. I did great on this major road trip - at least, that's what Mommy and Daddy say.
