Here is the start of Jacob's 3rd Birthday blog...I just finished the cake and am quite proud :). He LOVES Curious George right now so we did a monkey cake - this cake weighs a TON! It's a 9x13 for the base and an 8' round on top with cupcake ears which means we also have a batch of cupcakes too! Here are the party treat bags for the kids. I found printables online and made bookmarks plus each bag has animal crackers, candy and - of course a banana...the Curious George bubbles didn't come in in time but hoping for tomorow. The official party is tomorrow and we have about 12 of Jacob's friends coming over. Should be crazy! I also printed out these hat patterns and taped them to plain party hats Tomorrow we'll have plenty of pictures of the birthday boy and all his toys and friends. I must say he made quite a haul this year and every day this week he's gotten a box or two!
This week we did a lot of fun things. Monday morning just before it started to rain, and before the tornado warnings came, we had the fastest easter egg hunt in history!
On Tuesday night mommy and me went to see daddy play his tuba at an outdoor concert. They gave away free ice cream!! Thursday we went to pick strawberries!!! and we got strawberry ice cream!! and they had a cool sandbox and swings!!
Papaw & Grandmaw are here this week and today we all went to my playgroup. Papaw became EVERYONE's papaw today and I think he had more fun than me. We went to this really fun park and then we all had a picnic lunch.
Here is Papaw with my friends Amelia and Kennedy and this is me on this very cool motorcycle here is me and my friend Carter and this is last night's story time before bed
Mommy and Daddy really need to try to blog more than once a month. (Thanks for reminding them, Uncle Pete!) Meanwhile, this should get you caught up on what I've been doing since we took down the Christmas lights and had our cool Gator party:
Daddy went to Athens in mid-January. Athens, Georgia, that is. That's where the University of Georgia is. We don't like their football team very much (Go Gators! Go Tebow!), but Daddy says their School of Music is OK. They hosted a honor band festival. While he was there, Mommy and I got to go on a few dates, just the two of us. It was fun.
A few weeks after that, we all went to Savannah! Daddy went to a statewide music conference, and Mommy and I had fun in Savannah visiting old friends. I was very popular at our old church in Rincon, Grace Community Church.
The weather has been cold, then warm, then cold, then hot, then cold, then warm again. One a few weeks ago, when it was warm, Daddy taught me how to pedal my new train that Paw-Paw gave me for Christmas. (Video coming soon, Daddy promises!)
Do you like my engineer hat? We bought it at the zoo. (No idea why they had train hats at the zoo.)
We really haven't been doing much of anything at all since we got back from Savannah. Today is Valentine's Day, and since none of us are fat enough, we are having chocolate. Mommy made a double-decker brownie with icing and sprinkles! Daddy got his usual pile of Reese's hearts. This year I helped Mommy make a card for Daddy. He really liked it.
My new favorite TV show is: SUPER WHY! If you don't know this show, the theme song is very catchy. But my favorite is the Super Why Alphabet Song:
What a month!!! On the 18th we had a fun get-together at our house for a "Hank's Birthday / Christmas Party" Here's the yummy cake I made
Then, on the last day of school before the break, the band adopted a family for Christmas and they came over to get their gifts...here's Jacob and one of the little boys - future band directors?
and then..... Jacob got the croup and we ended up in the hospital for a night on the 21st.
I had a "really cool" Christmas morning. Mommy, Daddy, and Grandma are cooking up a storm with the traditional Christmas goose and plenty of other yummies. Here's a few pics of the morning's highlights; more to come! Merry Christmas!
I enjoyed my "choo-choo" from Paw-Paw
And I got a new bike from Pa-Paw and Grandma!!
Uncle Pete: Your gift came in very handy! We used it right away (along with an early gift Mommy got). Daddy says it's REALLY COOL!
We are back home after a night in the hospital. Jacob is feeling much better, although he's not quite 100% yet. The doctor said it will be another day or two before he is no longer contagious. He gets some medicine for the next few days. Meanwhile, he's having fun running around the house and playing with Grandma and Papaw!
Hello everyone, Jacob is spending the night in the hospital for observation. He is wheezing and really working hard to breathe. We took him to the doctor this afternoon, and when he didn't respond to a breathing treatment in the office, the doctor admitted him to the hospital.
As of right now everything is completely treatable, and the doctor and hospital staff are not worried. He is receiving breathing treatments and is already responding positively. He gets to spend the night under a tent -- hopefully we can convince him that it's fun!
