October at the Carters in SW Georgia

My sis-in-law inspired me to do a catch up blog so here goes...

October is always crazy in our house....
Hank is working/living at school (or on a bus) with the band - competition month & crazy far away football games.  Jacob has had one of his front baby teeth AND the permanent tooth at the same time for about a month;  baby tooth finally came out this week!  Ryan is 2...he screams, throws little tantrums and kicks and hits when he doesn't get his way..he is also VERY smart and learning lots in his little 2 morning/week school.  He loves his teacher :)  Jacob will be Rudolph in his school's Christmas program - he is learning his lines
Jacob is also ahead of his level in reading and we are reading/testing 3 books a week.  He is also taking weekly spelling tests and has passed all of them.  He has taken some benchmark tests in reading and math and has done very well on those too.  Jacob's excitement for this week as that he and his buddy were sharing answers on a math test.  The teacher emailed me and said she explained what he was doing wrong and that he should be doing his OWN work.  She said that "you know Jacob is too smart for his own good sometimes, I bet he thought that this was a more efficient way of taking the test!".  So funny..  After a long talk and discussion with him about cheating, I don't "think" he'll do it again - unless of course, he thinks it will be a more efficient way of taking the test HA!.  I subbed at Ryan's school 2 days - the 1 year old class and then the 3 year old class.  I also went with Ryan and his class to the pumpkin patch.  With Hank's busy schedule - we do lots of "family time" things where ever we can...football games, band competitions, dinner on the floor in his office, etc.  Looking forward to Thanksgiving break and a week off - well most of it unless the football team makes the playoffs - then more Friday night lights for us  Happy Fall!..one more random thought...we have had our van almost 1 year!! and we love it more than ever.  It made all the summer travel so nice and last night we all rode to church along with the tuba and a trombone.  It needs a bath - our car wash burned down - haven't been in a while.. must do that soon!
